Dr. Günter Schwarz is a German and was born in 1959. He has studied mathematics and physics and received his PhD in 1989. In 1995 he was awarded with the title of a „Privatdozent (Dr. habil.)“ by the University of Mannheim. In 2002 he nominated as a fellow of the German Actuarial Society.
Dr. Schwarz looks back to a long academic carrier in Germany and Canada. Since 1997 he works for the insurance industry, first as a mathematician with an actuarial consultant firm and since 2003 with Munich Re. He focus is on accounting and regulatory issues and leads a specialist team responsible for structuring reinsurance transactions both in order to achieve supervisory recognition and to optimize the anticipated effects on the client’s balance sheet. During 2010-2013 the also headed the Global Life Solvency project and since 2018 an IFRS 17 project, both focus on developing Munich Re solution for Solvency II and consulting clients.
Dr. Schwarz has been nominated as a member of several task forces in the German Actuarial Society (e.g. „Options and Guarantees“ and „IFRS Accounting“). Since 2010 he also is appointed as a lecturer at the Ludwig Maximilian University Munich.
